The activity of the study nurse on the basis of Good Clinical Practice (GCP, Good Clinical Practice) and the German Drug Law (AMG). Although the title Study of the Nurse in any of these documents mentions the term “study nurse” has prevailed in the directly involved in the study.

Study Nurse is not a protected professional title, there is no uniform rule for the training. Basic medical training e.g. Physician assistants or nurse and regular training are helpful, English and computer skills are required. The job descriptions medical documentaries and medical documentation assistants meet these criteria, the training is also taught to plan and conduct of clinical trials. The presentation of new research protocols and participation in national and international study meeting is required.

Several organizations offer training on the study nurse, for example Founded in May 1999 working group study nurse with members of the pharmaceutical industry, CROs, hospitals and universities under the auspices of the Association for Applied Human Pharmacology (AGAH), the continuing education courses for study nurses developed and carried out [1]. Prerequisite for participation in the AGAH-certified courses, a completed training as a nurse, technician or equivalent medical training, the total duration of about six months [2] or the KKS Network (Coordination Center for Clinical Studies), whose training for study assistance 120 hours provides on-site courses and a bi-weekly internship in an external study by leading department.

A mental health nurse will work in the world of psychiatry and sometimes psychology. This is why it is important for mental health nurses to have a good knowledge about human behavior. In other words, they need to have good knowledge of patients? lives and what they think about themselves. Apart from nursing related knowledge, mental health nurses will need to have good basic grasp of law. This is because they will often have to deal with people in authority such as police as well as prison officials. It is these reasons and more which makes this job different compared to many
other nursing related jobs.

A big part of becoming a mental health nurse involves having good communication skills and also good knowledge about medication. Along with this mental health nurses will need to be knowledgeable in other areas such as anatomy. This is because they will need to work with patients and help them with any physical problems they may have. In short, a mental health nursing job involves a holistic approach to dealing with patients. This is why compared to many other nursing jobs, mental health nursing work is considered to be one of the most demanding and difficult to do.

— mental-health-nurse

It is imperative that a person who is going in for this type of job to show that they are highly skilled at all types of communication such as reading, empathizing, listening, talking and writing. Basically the candidate will need to learn how to treat patients with proper dignity. Being adept at these skills is crucial in becoming a successful mental health nurse. Those who excel in this line of work, is not uncommon for them to go on and become nurse therapists or even a clinical psychologists. In order to become any one of these, the person will need to study further to become qualified.

Metal health nurse education will mainly focus on nursing theory, biology, discrimination, law and policy, stigma, psychotherapy, developmental psychology, team- working and care management. If you are planning on joining a course to become a mental health nurse, it is important to sit and think about why exactly you are entering this line of work. Showing up for an interview with high marks does not necessarily guarantee you a place. As mentioned before this is a tough line of work, therefore mental health institutions want to be very sure they are hiring the right person for this line of job.

Neonatal nurses work either within specialist neonatal units (within maternity or children’s hospitals) or in the community.

Neonatal nurses care for new-born babies who are premature or are born sick. There are a vast number of conditions that can affect a new-born baby and require treatment from specialists within the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Premature babies have particular problems as a result of being born too soon, in particular problems such as respiratory difficulties that can be life threatening if not treated promptly and appropriately by the specialist team. Likewise, the nutritional needs of the sick newborn and premature babies will require specialist care.

The neonatal nurse also has the important role of supporting the parents of the baby at a time when they themselves are very anxious and stressed. As far as possible, the parents and occasionally other family members are encouraged to take an active role in the care of the baby.

Dental Nurses provide assistance to Dentists or other dental professionals during dental procedures and at other times in dealing with patients.

Oral health is a top priority in today’s society and healthy teeth and gums are considered to be a basic right. Many diseases begin in the mouth, later leading to infections in other parts of the body. The pain brought about by poorly maintained or damaged teeth can make life unbearable in several treatable scenarios.

Dentists and other dental professionals are the first line of defence and a Dental Nurse is a vital part of any dental practice. Dental Nurses must be on hand during tricky dental procedures to assist the dentist with manual tasks and those relating to the comfort of the patient. Outside of dental procedure, Dental Nurses prepare the surgery and are usually the first and last person to see the patient, collating information and setting them at their ease.

Salary

There are no set guidelines for a Dental Nurses’ salary. Salary is whatever the practice in question decides to pay and so can differ widely, although it is linked to the location of the practice and level of experience. Here are some typical salaries.

- At entry level Dental Nurse’s pay starts at the minimum wage, around £14,000 per annum.
- An experienced Dental Nurse can earn £17,000 to £20,000 per annum.
- A senior Dental Nurse may earn up to £26,000 (or more depending on the surgery) per annum.

Responsibilities

A Dental Nurse has a variety of tasks to complete both during and outside of dental procedure times. A Dental Nurse’s responsibilities include:

-Sterilising dental equipment and making sure the correct equipment is available and in good repair.
-Sterilising the practice surgery and keeping it in order.
-Meeting patients and collating their dental records, case history, x-rays etc.
-Mixing dental fillings and moulds.
-Helping to keep the patient as relaxed and happy as possible.
-Assisting during dental procedures – passing tools, keeping the patient’s mouth clear of blood and/or saliva.
-Assisting in the recording of patient data.
-Filing dental practice records.
-Collecting fees and setting appointments.
-Answering the telephone and receiving patients.

Qualifications

To become a Dental Nurse you must complete a course accredited by the General Dental Council (GDC) such as:

-A national certificate in Dental Nursing
-A NVQ level 3 in Dental Nursing.
-A VRQ level 3 in Dental Nursing
-A certificate of higher learning in Dental Nursing.

You can study these courses on a full or part-time basis at dental hospitals or higher education colleges. You will be required to do work experience in a dental surgery as part of your course. No prior qualifications are required to begin a Dental Nursing course but employers will usually expect you to have a few GCSE’s such as English and Maths.
Skills

A Dental Nurse is a busy job with a lot of responsibility attached to it – both to the patient and to the dentist. The following personal skills or attributes would be useful:

-A great bedside manner. A visit to the dentist can be a nerve-racking experience for many, so a Dental Nurse needs to be both confident and reassuring.
-Good organisational skills are a must with such a variety of tasks to complete.
-Ability to work as part of a team. A Dental Nurse is there primarily to provide support.
-Ability to work under pressure. Dental procedures can be tricky affairs and a Dental Nurse has to be on the ball to see that everything goes smoothly.
-A sympathetic nature is vital as Dental Nurses provide care to a great variety of people including children and those with disabilities or special needs.

Working Conditions

Usually a Dental Nurse operates within a Dental Practice, which includes a surgery for procedures, a waiting room, an office for admin and perhaps other rooms reserved for procedures such as X-rays. Alternatively, Dental Nurses may work within hospitals, army clinics, mobile clinics, care homes or patients’ own homes in the case of community schemes.

Hours worked by Dental Nurses are typically 8am or 9am to 5pm or 7pm. Emergency clinics stay open later and there are 24 hr dental clinics.

Due to sharp dental instruments, specialised equipment and the risk of infection, there are some dangers in the workplace. Official guidelines must be adhered to in order to minimise these.

A Dental Nurse’s job is typically stressful due to the range of tasks and roles they must perform. There is pressure to perform efficiently and always with regard to the patient’s emotional well being. Much of the day is spent on one’s feet so the job can be physically demanding as well as emotionally. Being a Dental Nurse is not a job for the lazy but would suit individuals motivated by challenge and the chance to really help people where needed.

Experience

To become a dental nurse you must have direct experience of working in a dental surgery; you can do this as part of your course. Other useful experience would be anything in a client facing role or working with the general public. Any previous caring or nursing experience would be an advantage.

Rebecca Towne Nurse (or Nourse) (February 21, 1621 – July 19, 1692) was executed for witchcraft by the government of the Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England in 1692, during the Salem witch trials. She was the wife of Francis Nurse, a mother of several children and grandchildren, and a well-respected member of the community. Although there was no credible evidence against her, she was hanged as a witch on July 19, 1692. This occurred during a time when the Massachusetts colony was seized with hysteria over witchcraft and the supposed presence of Satan within the colony.

Early life

The daughter of William and Joanna Towne (née Blessing), Nurse was born in Great Yarmouth, England in 1621. Her family settled in Salem Village, which is now known as Danvers, Massachusetts, in 1640. She had one older sister, Susan (baptized 26 Oct 1625 – died 29 Jul 1630) and two younger sisters, Mary Easty (baptized 24 Aug 1634) and Sarah Cloyce (born ca. 1642), both of whom were also accused of witchcraft. She also had four brothers: John (baptized 16 Feb 1622/23), Edmund (baptized Jun 1628), Jacob (baptized 11 Mar 1631/32) and Joseph (born abt 1639).

Around 1645, she married Francis Nurse, also born in England. Her husband was a “tray maker” by trade, who likely made many other wooden household items. Due to the rarity of such household goods, artisans of that medium were esteemed. Nurse and her family lived on a vast homestead which was part of a 300-acre (1.2 km2) grant given to Townsend Bishop in 1636. Francis originally rented it and then gradually paid it off throughout his lifetime. Together, the couple bore eight children: four daughters and four sons. Their names were Rebecca Nurse (born 1642), Sarah Nurse (born 1644), John Nurse (born 1645), Samuel Nurse (born 1649), Mary Nurse (1653 – 28 June 1749), Elizabeth Nurse (born 1656), Francis Nurse (born 1660/1661), and Benjamin Nurse (born in 1665/1666). Nurse frequently attended church and her family was well respected in Salem Village; Francis was often asked to be an unofficial judge to help settle matters around the village. In 1672, Francis served as Salem’s Constable. It was later written that Rebecca had “acquired a reputation for exemplary piety that was virtually unchallenged in the community,” making her one of the “unlikely” persons to be accused of witchcraft.

Accusation and trial

The family had been involved in a number of acrimonious land disputes with the Putnam family. On March 23, 1692, a warrant was issued for her arrest based upon accusations made by Edward and John Putnam. Upon hearing of the accusations the frail 70-year-old Nurse, often described as an invalid, said, “I am innocent as the child unborn, but surely, what sin hath God found out in me unrepented of, that He should lay such an affliction on me in my old age.”

There was a public outcry over the accusations made against her, as she was considered to be of very pious character. Thirty-nine of the most prominent members of the community signed a petition on Nurse’s behalf. At age 71, she was one of the oldest accused. Her ordeal is often credited as the impetus for a shift in the town’s opinion about the purpose of the witch trials.

Her trial began on June 30, 1692. In accordance with the procedures at the time, Mrs. Nurse, like others accused of witchcraft, represented herself since she was not allowed to have a lawyer represent her. By dint of her respectability, many members of the community testified on her behalf including her family members. However the young Ann Putnam and her siblings would break into fits and claim Nurse was tormenting them. Such so called “spectral evidence” was allowed into the trial to show that Satan was afflicting others in the community at the behest of the accused. In response to their outbursts Nurse stated, “I have got nobody to look to but God.” Many of the other afflicted girls were hesitant to accuse Nurse.

In the end, the jury ruled Nurse not guilty. Due to public outcry and renewed fits and spasms by the girls, the magistrate asked that the verdict be reconsidered. At issue was the statement of another prisoner “[she] was one of us” to which Nurse did not reply, probably because of her loss of hearing[citation needed]. The jury took this as a sign of guilt and changed their verdict, sentencing Nurse to death on July 19, 1692.

If you are considering a career in nursing, one of the things you will need to take into account is how much money nurses make. While you can earn a comfortable salary as a registered nurse, how much you make depends on a number of factors; these may include geographic location, what type of setting you are practicing in (such as a doctor’s office or hospital), how much education and experience you have, and your area of specialization.

The following gives a general idea of how much money nurses make on averaged based on the type of practice they work for:

• Medical & Surgical Hospitals: $ 65,000
• Physicians’ Offices: $ 60,000
• Home Health Care $ 59,000
• Assisted Living Facilities $ 57,000

Beginning salaries for nurses are typically in the range of $50,000 per year; however, nurses with advanced degrees (such as a master’s degree) or who work in management can earn upwards of $100,000 in some areas. In addition to their annual earnings, the majority of nurses enjoy numerous other benefits, including flexible hours, bonuses, child care and union membership.

Keep in mind that, while registered nurses can earn a significant salary, the job requires long hours and hard work, often in stressful situations. However, if you enjoy helping others, working in a medical setting, and truly making a difference, then nursing can be an exciting and rewarding career.

A skilled nursing facility is a location dedicated to the care of individuals in a residential facility, usually there on a long-term basis. These facilities specialize in the 24-hour care and observation of individuals whose needs are usually critical enough where they need constant watching, but not serious enough where hospitalization is required.

A skilled nursing facility may often be called a nursing home by some people. They are often called that because nurses, of varying degrees and certifications, take on the bulk of the patient care work. They carry out this care by working closely with a patient’s team of personal doctors, following those physicians’ directions and holding consultations as necessary. Doctors also make visits, in some cases, to skilled nursing facilities to provide check-up examinations.

Traditionally, a skilled nursing facility has been used for care of the elderly, leading to the somewhat unflattering term “old folks home.” However, since that time, many skilled nursing facilities have added rehabilitation to their list of services. An individual may check into a skilled nursing facility, for example, to work on physical therapy after a surgery like a hip or knee replacement.

Often, these types of surgery limit mobility and make it problematic, especially for someone who lives alone. Being at a skilled nursing facility gives these individuals a chance to have round the clock care and also receive physical therapy services in the same location.

In general, a skilled nursing facility is an option for those who can no longer carry out the functions of daily lives, either on a temporary or permanent basis. Staff at a skilled nursing facility will help the individual with a number of everyday tasks, including bathing, eating, grooming and toileting.

In the United States, time spent at a skilled nursing facility can be expensive and not always covered by health insurance. This has led many individuals to consider getting a supplement to their normal health insurance coverage that will specifically cover nursing home care. A study reported by New York Life, an American insurance company, noted the average cost of a private room at a skilled nursing facility in the United States has increase to $204 US Dollars (USD) per day. The average price of a shared room is $180 USD per day. Prices were highest in the state of Alaska, where a private room costs more than $350 USD per day.

Room arrangements in a skilled nursing facility are similar to those in hospitals. They can be either private or shared. Similarly, bathrooms can be either private or shared.
