LVN Nursing Schools

The Nursing shortages have been highly publicised for years now so it may be no surprise to many that nursing can be a lucrative field to go into.It has been fore-casted that by the year 2020 the shortages will reach an astronomical number of about 116,000. However, if you go to any LVN nursing school in the state of California you may be surprised to know that opportunities are endless as far as your ability to advance in the nursing industry. You may be placed on a waiting list before you can start the nursing program, this has proven to discourage many enthusiastic students from the career field.

To help control and stabilize the situation the California state governor Arnold Schwarzenegger broadened the opportunity for LVN nurses in the state of California to allow them to advance their career’s and go into registered nursing by attending only an additional 1 to 2 years of extra training. This has excited many LVN nursing students, who would have had to go to school for much longer had this mandate not been put into place.

Because it would take a potential nursing student 5 + years to complete the RN(Registered Nursing) program with a waiting list of up to 4 years before getting into the actual nursing program, this system has proven to discourage many enthusiastic students from entering into the career field of nursing. In addition to completing prerequisites courses of math, anatomy, physiology, microbiology and chemistry and in some cases having to complete a certified nursing course (CNA) to qualify for the RN program. The new mandate makes it much less trying for first time nursing students to get into the nursing field by attending an LVN nursing school and graduating from that school, then getting a job in that field and possibly going to RN school while being able to support themselves and their families in addition to being able to build their experience in the nursing field.

The admission process for LVN nursing schools are not as difficult to sign up for, in fact it takes an LVN nursing student less than 2 years to complete the course. This mandate really is a win win situation because it benefits the LVN nursing schools, the registered Nursing schools and if fully utilized it can help to bridge the gap in the nursing shortages since LVN’s are qualified and fully licensed to perform some of the duties that Registered nurses do.
